"It's a book that answers the question 'What does it look like when a teacher has listened carefully to students, centers their voices and experiences in the classroom, and teaches in a way that gives them agency? Show us.'"

PoV Keynote
45-75 minutes with optional fireside author chat
Pedagogies of Voice: Street Data and the Path to Student Agency (Corwin, August 2025) expands on the Street Data framework to introduce 8 Pedagogies in Practice that help us awaken student voice and agency in our schools. In this interactive talk, participants will reflect on their experiences of voice and agency as learners and explore the case for a Pedagogy of Voice in the moment we are in. The authors unpack four domains of agency—Identity, Belonging, Inquiry, and Efficacy—that come to life through 8 powerful pedagogies. Not only will you gain new ideas and inspiration, you will walk away with tools to transform learning for the students and/or adults that you serve.
PoV Institute
1–2 Days | A Foundational Introduction to the Framework
This immersive institute introduces educators to Pedagogies of Voice: Street Data and the Path to Student Agency—a transformative framework designed to cultivate student agency and reimagine the purpose of education. We begin by tracing the historical roots of schooling and reflecting on how systems have often silenced or marginalized student voice. Together, we explore 10 toxins that diminish voice and 10 ways of being that awaken it, culminating in creating a Purpose of Education statement.
- A compelling inquiry question (or Possibility of Practice) to guide ongoing learning
- A listening plan to elevate the voices of learners at the margins
PoV Microcommunity Lab Series
4–5 Interactive Sessions | A Space for Co-Design, Bold Creation, and Real Community
The Pedagogies of Voice (PoV) Microcommunity Lab Series is more than just professional learning—it’s a hands-on design space where educators come together to build community, create transformative learning experiences, and teach with radical love and inclusion at the heart. Structured as a 4–5 session arc, this series brings together small teams of 4–10 educators to explore the 8 Pedagogies of Voice in Practice while co-creating learning experiences that center student agency, Street Data, and learners at the margins.
PoV Community of Practice
A Year-Long Hybrid Learning Journey to Transform Your Practice
Building on the bestselling book Street Data (Corwin, 2021) and its core framework, the Equity Transformation Cycle, this year-long Community of Practice (CoP) integrates the Pedagogies of Voice framework (Corwin, 2025) to transform daily learning experiences toward the North Star of student agency. In partnership with a hosting district or organization, a cohort of educators comes together throughout the school year to engage in hands-on learning and collaborative work that centers student voice and drives real transformation. Participants will be steeped in learning and designing with 8 Pedagogies that awaken student Identity, Belonging, Inquiry, and Efficacy as they move through the ETC phases of Listen at the margins, Uncover root causes, Reimagine current practice, and Movew ith Courage.
